New Air-Weigh Entry-Level Scale

Eugene, OR, March 27, 2008 - Air-Weigh is expanding their on-board scale product family with the addition of a new entry-level weighing solution. The new scale, named QuickLoad, incorporates state-of-the-art hardware and software technology packaged in a compact in-dash display. The QuickLoad Scale offers many desirable on-board weighing features currently offered by Air-Weigh in an affordably-priced configuration. QuickLoad is designed for use on dedicated tractor-trailer configurations and straight trucks.

Up to four axle groups (including steer, drive and trailer axles) can be monitored on the in-dash display and the scale automatically calculates GVW and net payload. Weight information consisting of steer axle weight, drive axle weight, trailer axle weights, gross vehicle weight, and payload weight is displayed in the cab. Like other Air-Weigh scales, QuickLoad features warning and overweight alarm outputs, dual-point calibration, and easy installation. There are several air and axle deflection sensor kits available that allow you to tailor each QuickLoad scale to a variety of truck, tractor, and dedicated tractor trailer configurations.

The QuickLoad on-board scale converts tractor and trailer suspension loads to an accurate on-the-ground weight. By comparing empty and loaded axle group weights with empty and loaded suspension pressures, the scale can be calibrated to display accurate weights at any suspension load. QuickLoad accuracy is not affected by altitude, temperature, or humidity and is easy to operate, install, and calibrate.

All Air-Weigh on-board scales, including QuickLoad, feature a patented dual-point calibration system. Coupled with several unique proprietary technologies, this allows customers to accurately know their specific axle group weights at the loading site. Air-Weigh eliminates weight-related costs including fees, time, out-of-route miles, fuel, overweight fines, and delays in truck stops.

QuickLoad configurations are available starting as low as $400. Product deliveries are scheduled to begin in April 2008. For more information on QuickLoad or other Air-Weigh products go to www.Air-WeighScales.com or call 1-888-459-3444.

Air-Weigh Makes On-Board Scales Smarter Than Ever

Eugene, OR, October 23, 2007 – Air-Weigh unveiled a new in-cab electronic scale. The new scale, named LoadMaxx, incorporates state-of-the-art hardware and software technology packaged in a new ComLink hardware device. The LoadMaxx Scale offers innovative and exciting features including an interface to J1939 / CAN bus, two programmable weight alarm outputs, an interface to an inclinometer, and enhanced self test diagnostics.

The J1939 / CAN bus interface allows dash displays and on-board computers to easily obtain weight information for wireless transmission to fleet headquarters or for viewing by the driver in the cab. Two alarm outputs can be used to warn the driver when an axle group weight or GVW exceeds legal limits.

Parking on an incline can result in uneven pressure on a vehicle’s suspension, which affects the accuracy of a scale reading. With the inclinometer option for LoadMaxx, the weight display, J1939 outputs, and alarm outputs, are turned off when detecting an incline that will affect weight reading accuracy.

The LoadMaxx scale is available with or without an optional Air-Weigh display device. Weight information consisting of steer axle weight, drive axle weight, gross vehicle weight, and payload weight, is displayed on the optional display. The weight information may also be transferred to an on-board computer for display and use by other vehicle applications.

The LoadMaxx on-board scale converts tractor and trailer suspension loads to an accurate on-the-ground weight. By comparing empty and heavy axle group weights with empty and heavy suspension loads, the scale can be calibrated to display accurate weights with any load. LoadMaxx accuracy is not affected by altitude, temperature, or humidity and is easy to operate, install, and calibrate.

All Air-Weigh on-board scales, including LoadMaxx, feature a patented dual-point calibration system, automatic trailer scale to tractor scale communication, and, coupled with several unique proprietary technologies, allow customers to accurately know their specific axle group weights at the loading site. Air-Weigh eliminates weight-related costs including fees, time, out-of-route miles, fuel, overweight fines, and delays in truck stops. Air-Weigh products are used by fleets worldwide and are available as a factory option through major tractor and trailer OEMs.

LoadMaxx is currently being beta-tested at several fleets and OEMs. Product deliveries are scheduled to begin in late 2007. For more information on LoadMaxx or other Air-Weigh products go to www.air-weighscales.com or call 1-888-459-3444.

Auto Haulers Weigh In On New Air-Weigh Solution

Eugene, OR, August 24, 2007 – Air-Weigh announced today a new on-board scale solution designed to meet the unique weighing challenges faced by auto haulers. The auto hauler scale includes components from the 5800-series in-dash tractor scale kit with Air-Weigh’s standard 5802 series trailer scale to provide a complete on-board weighing solution. The auto-hauler scale provides accurate weights for the steer, drive, and trailer axles along with the GVW, and net payload.

Air-Weigh’s auto hauler scale provides a complete weighing solution for auto haulers by adding a deflection sensor for the steer axle. The steer axle weight is a challenge for auto haulers because vehicles loaded onto stinger headramps put more weight on the steer and drive axles than a typical van or flatbed trailer.

While working to determine the most effective scale system, Air-Weigh turned to one of the largest Cottrell dealers in the United States, East Coast Truck and Trailer Sales, Inc. East Coast tested the scales and provided feedback that allowed Air-Weigh to make modifications to the scale package before its release. The Air-Weigh auto hauler scale proved to be an invaluable tool for East Coast customers. “This is the best on-board weighing solution on the market for auto-hauler trucks. Customers get accurate weights and have no more problems legalizing their axles,” reports Barry Rudiger, President of East Coast Truck and Trailer Sales Inc.

The Air-Weigh auto hauler scale is a specialized solution that is currently available from stock. It can be ordered directly from Air-Weigh or from authorized Air-Weigh dealers.

Air-Weigh On-Board Scales now available as OEM option on Western Star Vehicles

Eugene, OR, August 1, 2007 – Air-Weigh announced today the availability of the Air-Weigh® 5800-series tractor scale as a factory option for all Western Star Trucks with rear air suspensions. The Air-Weigh scales are spec’d through the custom application engineering offered by Western Star. Interested customers are requested to contact their local Western Star dealer for pricing and ordering information.

“Western Star and Air-Weigh have teamed up to offer on-board scaling systems that contribute to efficient and productive trucking operations,” said Martin Ambros, President of Air-Weigh. “By working with Western Star Trucks to offer this factory installed option, we are helping their customers save money with a product that provides a solid return on investment.”

On-board scales improve fleet productivity and reduce operating costs and delays caused by check-weighing. Air-Weigh is the only on-board scale manufacturer offering an in-dash scale for tractors. When an Air-Weigh equipped tractor picks up a trailer with an Air-Weigh scale, the trailer weight data is automatically sent to the truck’s in-dash display, where the driver is able to see steer, drive, and up to seven trailer axle weights along with net payload and GVW. The system communicates over existing wiring between the tractor and trailer and operates off of the vehicle power, making the Air-Weigh system a completely integrated weight management device. Once calibrated, Air-Weigh customers claim weight accuracy to be well within 300 lbs. of a DOT scale. “On-board scales have become part of the industry’s standard devices for modern trucks,” observes TR Reed, Western Star Product Manager. “Western Star is pleased to offer Air-Weigh to our customers.”

Ocean Trailers Makes Air-Weigh Standard on Premium Stock Trailers

Eugene, Oregon –Air-Weigh, the transportation industry’s leading supplier of on-board electronic scales, today announced that British Columbia based Ocean Trailers, a leading Canadian trailer distributor, has made Air-Weigh a standard accessory on their premium stock trailers. Ocean Trailer serves as a distributor for a number of different brands of trailers including Utility and Wilson Trailers. After five years of ushering in Wilson Trailer stock, the company has achieved status as the top distributor of Wilson Trailer’s flatbed trailer.

Sid Keay, CEO, recognizes the difference Air-Weigh scales make for his clients. He explains, “Ocean Trailers believes strongly in Air-Weigh Scales and encourages all of our customers to include them in their new trailer specifications. Today’s trailers have extra payload capacity, but with increased enforcement of DOT weight laws, it takes the accuracy of an Air-Weigh onboard scale to take full advantage of it. Our many fleet customers have found them to be instrumental in their operations, such that Ocean Trailers specifies Air-Weigh scales as a standard part of our premium stock trailers. We have dealt with Air-Weigh since 2002 and have always been impressed with their quality, accuracy and professionalism.”

The Air-Weigh Trailer Scale is a true load management system that is permanently installed on the trailer and calibrated to the specific air suspension used. An alarm output is standard and allows connection of a light or buzzer to warn of near-legal weight limit or over-legal weight on any axle or GVW. The Trailer Scale also works in drop-and-hook applications with the Air-Weigh 5800 Truck Scale, which together provide steer, drive and trailer axle weights, and GVW and Net Payload weights all on one convenient display in the dash.

With Air-Weigh scales, fleets eliminate all of the costs and delays caused by weighing at an in-ground scale, while reducing overweight fines. For those fleets that check-weigh at all, or check weights at a shipper’s in-ground scale, Air-Weigh is a quick and simple ROI.

About Air-Weigh
Air-Weigh, founded in 1995 and based in Eugene, Oregon, provides on-board electronic scales for numerous vehicle types in the transportation industry. With Air-Weigh scales, fleets in a wide variety of applications worldwide are able to reduce operational costs while increasing overall efficiency. For more information, go to www.air-weigh.com

Kennesaw Transportation Chooses Air-Weigh

Eugene, Oregon –Air-Weigh, the transportation industry’s leading supplier of on-board electronic scales, today announced that Georgia based Kennesaw Transportation, a leading truckload carrier, has purchased the 5800 Series scales for installation on its entire fleet. Kennesaw Transportation, which has been serving the Southeastern United States since 1981, specializes in hauling produce and other refrigerated goods between the west coast and the southeast.

Bill Jordan, Director of Maintenance for Kennesaw Transportation, recognizes the difference Air-Weigh scales makes for his company. He explains: “The biggest issue we were having was controlling our weight-related costs. Our goal was to eliminate the hassle of using truck stop scales and their direct costs. We have been able to accomplish this with the use of Air-Weigh on-board scales. After a recent analysis, we have seen a dramatic decrease in the amount of money we spend on scale fees. Air-Weigh was well worth the investment.”

The Air-Weigh 5800 Series of on-board truck scale is a true load management system that is permanently installed in the dash and calibrated to each suspension on the vehicle. The 2-inch gauge display automatically shows each axle group’s weight on one screen, with no operator interaction required. A single button press displays GVW and Net Payload weights. An alarm output is standard and allows connection of an in-dash or exterior light or buzzer to warn of near-legal weight limit or over-legal weight on any axle or GVW.

The 5800 Series Truck and Trailer Scales include all the functionality of earlier versions of Air-Weigh scales and are a major upgrade in efficiency and ease-of-use from old-fashioned, analog suspension air gauges. Unlike a suspension air gauge previously used by drivers to estimate drive axle weight, Air-Weigh takes all the guesswork out by providing accurate, on-the-ground steer, drive, and trailer axle weights in pounds or kilograms.

United Rentals Deploys Air-Weigh

EUGENE, OREGON– United Rentals, the world’s largest rental company with more than 750 rental locations and over 1,500 class 8 transport vehicles, has selected Air-Weigh to supply on-board scales for all new equipment purchases and for retrofit of their existing transport fleet.

Through town hall meetings with dispatchers and drivers, United Rentals learned that being able to monitor axle weight and gross vehicle weight as part of the loading process would provide significant operational cost savings. By no longer wasting time going off-site to platform scales, they determined overall efficiency would be improved and they would substantially reduce or eliminate over-weight tickets and under-loading.

At one such United Rentals location, a driver would drive to a local mill to check-weigh before delivering rental equipment. The backhauls from jobsites were even more difficult. Even if the gross weight was legal there was always the chance of being over axle. With Air-Weigh scales installed; the driver now loads and drives straight to the delivery site or back to the United Rental branch location.

“We are proud to be part of United Rentals’ strategy to increase the efficiency and utilization of their fleet with on-board scales," said Martin Ambros, president of Air-Weigh. "With Air-Weigh 5800 Series tractor and trailer scales on their rental transport equipment, United Rentals now provides their drivers with the ability to properly load their truck or trailer quickly and efficiently right on-site. United Rentals has implemented a solution that also offers value to their customers by eliminating equipment drop-off or pick-up delays due to legalizing axle weights, while at the same time eliminating the costs of overweight fines."

Air-Weigh scales are the industry-leading on-board weighing product, saving fleets world-wide time and money by providing accurate and reliable weights right at the loading site. Air-Weigh’s innovative and accurate scale products are available in a wide variety of configurations for both tractors and trailers.
